Hospital Driver at Hospital For Trauma and Surgery

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Hospital Driver to ensure the safe and timely transportation of staff, management, and materials. This position offers excellent opportunities for career growth within our healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

Medical & Administrative Transportation

• Transport doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to meetings, training sessions, and home visits safely and professionally
• Assist in transporting non-emergency patients to and from the hospital, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit
• Collect and deliver urgent medical supplies, blood products, oxygen cylinders, and laboratory samples to/from other facilities
• Properly secure medical samples (e.g., blood vials) and protect fragile items from extreme heat and rough handling

Vehicle Hygiene & Maintenance

• Regularly sanitize the vehicle including door handles, seats, and interiors with appropriate disinfectants to prevent cross-infection
• Perform daily routine checks on oil, water, brakes, tires, and siren/lights (if applicable) before each shift
• Report mechanical faults immediately to the Admin Manager to prevent breakdowns during critical trips

Safety & Compliance

• Operate the vehicle with extreme caution, particularly when transporting patients or fragile medical equipment
• Maintain an accurate Movement Logbook recording time out, destination, mileage, and trip purpose
• Strictly obey all traffic regulations (Note: Normal traffic laws apply except when driving a designated ambulance with sirens activated during emergencies)

Professional Conduct & Confidentiality

• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patient information at all times
• Demonstrate professional behavior and discretion in all interactions

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of local road networks in Lagos
• Valid driver's license
• Proven experience as a professional driver in healthcare or similar settings
• Ability to maintain vehicles in pristine condition
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance with traffic regulations
