Head of Energy Information System

About the Role

As Head of Energy Information System, you will coordinate the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive regional energy information system across all ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania. This role focuses on ensuring the provision of reliable energy indicators and strengthening capacity for energy data collection and management throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all activities of the Energy Information System Component
• Support the establishment of a permanent institutional framework for managing the regional energy information system
• Assess equipment and software used by national ECOWAS energy teams and the ECOWAS Commission, identifying and procuring new tools as needed
• Support ECOWAS Commission and Member States in establishing coordination mechanisms for data collection, validation, analysis, storage, and production of statistical data and energy reports
• Harmonize existing regional energy databases (ECOWAS, ECREEE, WAPP) to ensure consistency of energy data and indicators
• Organize annual regional workshops to maintain frameworks for exchange and cooperation between Member States and ECOWAS
• Conduct capacity-building sessions to equip national stakeholders with knowledge and competencies needed to utilize the national information system
• Provide technical support and capacity assistance to ECOWAS Member States in statistical data collection and production
• Monitor statistical data collection and production processes across the region
• Strengthen collaboration with AFREC on energy sector statistics, incorporating gender-sensitive approaches where possible

• Promoting coordination and synergies among member states on energy statistics
