## Title: Head Chef
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to lead our culinary team at 18 Hours Lounge & Restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Train, develop, and motivate supervisors and culinary staff to meet and exceed established food preparation standards consistently
- Teach food preparation according to well-defined recipes and continuously discuss ways of improving the cuisine
- Provide direction for all day-to-day kitchen operations
- Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment, counseling employees appropriately, and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to management
- Understand employee positions well enough to perform duties during absences or determine appropriate replacements to fill gaps
- Set performance standards and monitor staff performance
- Lead and influence kitchen staff using strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Advocate for sound financial and business decision-making, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and leading by example
- Improve service by communicating with individuals to understand guest needs and providing guidance, feedback, and coaching
- Delegate appropriately to develop supervisors and subordinates to accept responsibility and meet clearly defined goals and objectives
- Review staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met
- Actively participate in menu development and maintain updated, accurate costing of all dishes prepared and sold
- Determine food presentation methods and create decorative food displays
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
- Ensure proper handling and correct temperature maintenance of all food products
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in working order
- Coordinate with the purchasing department for food procurement
