Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Teach proper letter formation (upper & lower case), consistent size, correct orientation, spacing, and pencil grip.
- Lesson Planning: Design creative, engaging lessons that build fine motor skills and integrate handwriting with literacy (phonics, spelling).
- Assessment: Monitor student progress, award pen licenses based on set criteria, and provide constructive feedback.
- Differentiation: Adapt teaching for various needs, including those with handwriting difficulties or different learning styles (e.g., right/left-handed).
- Environment: Create a positive, encouraging classroom atmosphere where students take pride in their work.
- Collaboration: Communicate with parents and other teachers to support school-wide writing goals.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Qualifications: Often requires a Degree, teaching qualification (like a PGCE in some regions), and background checks.
