Job description
## Title: Geo-Database & GIS Geologist
Job Purpose
Design and oversee the implementation and maintenance of exploration and mineral resource data management systems and infrastructure for the Exploration Group. As custodian of all geo-data generated during exploration programmes or acquired from external parties, you will ensure that data has passed QAQC, has been validated, is of high integrity, and is made available seamlessly to end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment in compliance with legal requirements and company policy
- Establish and maintain an exploration data management system for GIS and borehole data and all Geochem data in acQuire or similar appropriate geo-database, ensuring central storage, administration, and seamless availability to exploration staff
- Establish data management protocols and procedures and ensure implementation across all exploration projects
- Provide training to all users on data standards and procedures, ensuring accountability for adherence
- Maintain and continuously improve technical data management systems as required
- Oversee management of technical software licenses
- Support mineral resource estimation activities
- Promote operational excellence across exploration teams through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality standards, adopting industry best practices for efficient and cost-effective mineral resource management
Requirements
- Professional Geologist designation
- BSc (Hons) in Geology; MSc/MEng or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 10 years of geology/mining related experience, of which at least 5 years must be in designing, implementing and maintaining geo-databases and GIS systems
