Gas Generator / Mechanical Engineer / Mechanic at Mikano

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Gas Generator Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position involves overseeing the assembly, quality control, and handover of generator sets, ensuring all components meet safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in steel fabricating materials used in generator sets, including base tanks, base frames, and crossbars
• Determine correct sizes and quantities of raw materials for each capacity, such as nuts, bolts, and washers
• Perform machine balancing and operate cranes to safely lift and carry heavy equipment
• Verify proper balance of generator set components, including engine-alternator alignment, crossbar anti-vibration mounting, and radiator-hose configuration
• Hand over all completed generator sets in excellent condition, free from scratches or dents on radiators, alternators, and other components
• Determine appropriate quantities of oil and coolant for each series and capacity
• Report any defective spare parts or raw materials before or after assembly coupling
• Proficiently use and adjust mechanical tools, including cranes, trolleys, torque wrenches, vernier calipers, and air ratchets
• Stay current on troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve issues such as white/black smoke, air in systems, leaks, abnormal sounds, and vibrations
• Read, understand, and consult generator set manuals; promptly report any unclear information
• Maintain proper tool storage and equipment care to prevent damage to fabricated materials
• Switch off all machines and secure the work area at end of shift
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by team leaders or supervisors

Required Qualifications

• Education: OND, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of work experience in a similar industry
• Extensive knowledge in Electrical, Mechanical, or Engineering disciplines
