About the Role

An established company is recruiting for a Financial Accountant position based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
• Oversee general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and other balance sheet items
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory reporting requirements (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.)
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Liaise with auditors and support the audit process with required documentation
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records for reporting and auditing purposes
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures
• Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Secure financial information by completing database backups

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Bac)
