Position Overview:
- As a Farm Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organising, and executing farming activities to maximise yield and profitability.
- Your role involves managing resources, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Plan and coordinate farm operations, including planting, harvesting, and livestock care.
- Develop and implement farming plans, schedules, and budgets to optimise productivity and profitability.
- Monitor crop yields, livestock health, and environmental conditions to identify issues and implement corrective measures.
- Supervise and train farm workers, contractors, and seasonal labourers.
- Maintain and repair farm equipment, machinery, and infrastructure as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards.
- Manage inventory levels of seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, and other farm inputs.
- Monitor and control expenses to stay within budgetary limits.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to conserve resources and minimise environmental impact.
- Coordinate with agronomists, veterinarians, and other agricultural professionals as needed.
- Keep accurate records of crop yields, expenses, and revenue.
- Market farm products to buyers, distributors, or direct consumers.
- Stay informed about market trends, consumer preferences, and industry developments.
- Participate in agricultural research, trials, or extension programs.
- Represent the farm in community events, agricultural fairs, or industry associations.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, or related field.
- Proven experience in farm management or agricultural production.
- Knowledge of crop cultivation, livestock management, and farm operations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Understanding of agricultural technology, machinery, and equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental laws, and agricultural policies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing priorities and unforeseen challenges.
