Expert Farmer / Agronomy Consultant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Farmer or Agronomy Consultant based in Abia State to support the setup, management, and supervision of crop production projects, including greenhouse and open-field farms.

This role is ideal for a hands-on farming professional with strong practical experience who understands modern farming practices and can guide farm workers to achieve healthy yields and efficient operations. Formal agronomy certification is an advantage but not mandatory—proven field experience is key.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site agronomic guidance during farm setup and early production stages
• Train and supervise farm workers on best practices including planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting
• Monitor crop health and identify disease, pest, or nutrient issues early
• Advise on crop selection, nursery management, and planting schedules
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of irrigation systems (e.g., drip irrigation)
• Conduct regular farm visits to oversee operations and performance
• Provide clear feedback and recommendations to project owners and management teams

Requirements

• Must be based in Abia State or willing to work consistently within Abia State
• Strong practical experience in crop production (vegetables and greenhouse farming experience is a plus)
• Good understanding of soil management, irrigation, pest and disease control
• Ability to train and manage farm workers effectively
• Agronomy degree or formal training is an advantage but not compulsory
• Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
