EORE Community Volunteers at The Big Smile Foundation

About the Role

The Big Smile Foundation is expanding its team and seeking dedicated community volunteers to support Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) initiatives in MMC and JERE Local Government Areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Mobilize community members for group EORE sessions
• Conduct face-to-face EORE sessions for at-risk and vulnerable persons and groups
• Conduct EORE audio sessions for at-risk and vulnerable individuals within implementing communities
• Conduct quarterly safety audits to identify suspected hazardous areas, confirmed hazardous areas, explosive ordnance sightings, accidents, and victims
• Supervise and mentor established EORE safety clubs for peer-to-peer EORE activities in and out of schools within implementing communities
• Serve as focal point to receive, identify, and report explosive ordnance accidents and victims to The Big Smile Foundation through established reporting mechanisms
• Work with community leaders to establish collaboration between the project team and community leadership
• Participate in all project activities within the community
• Play a key role in mobilizing community respondents for surveys
• Conduct other duties as assigned related to program implementation at implementation sites

Required Qualifications

• Must be an indigene and reside in any of the implementing communities in Dikwa Local Government Area
• Fluency in Hausa and Kanuri languages
• Adequate knowledge of risk-awareness methodologies
• Understanding of child safeguarding principles
• Ability to work with and mentor children's groups
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Organized and practical approach to work
• Friendly and approachable demeanor
