Elementary Teacher at Halifield Schools

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team at Halifield Schools in Lagos, Nigeria. As an Elementary Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and academically rigorous learning environment where students can thrive both academically and behaviorally.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote high academic standards in pupils' performances in accordance with approved benchmarks
• Develop short and long-term plans to ensure each child works towards set learning goals
• Prepare well-planned lessons that provide high-quality learning experiences and opportunities, considering every child's learning profile
• Promote the welfare and safety of children in your care
• Mark children's exercise books promptly and provide necessary corrections
• Conduct adequate and prompt assessment of children's academic and behavioral progress to identify gaps requiring remediation
• Set relevant, child-specific targets to address academic needs and gaps
• Maintain open communication with parents through communication books and report serious issues to the supervisor for resolution
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily attendance, diaries, and daily reports (illnesses, absences, accidents, and incidents)
• Ensure the classroom is a safe environment with safe equipment and awareness of children's specific needs
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor/Head Teacher in accordance with school objectives

Required Qualifications

• First Degree in a relevant field
• Job-specific teaching certification/Teaching Qualification (PGDE/PGDCE)
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
