Electrical Engineer at African Industries Group (AIG)

Job Summary

African Industries Group (AIG) is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Odogunyan plant in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment within the steel production facility, ensuring optimal plant performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, drives, transformers, panels, MCCs, and PLC-controlled equipment
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment to minimize downtime
• Monitor electrical performance of rolling mill, furnace, cranes, compressors, and auxiliary equipment
• Diagnose electrical faults and implement timely repairs to ensure uninterrupted production
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in plant shutdowns, installations, upgrades, and commissioning of new equipment
• Support energy efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement projects
• Supervise technicians and contractors when required

Requirements & Qualifications

• B.Eng or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 3 – 10 years of relevant experience in an industrial environment
• Experience in steel, manufacturing, power plant, cement, or heavy industry is advantageous
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, drives (VFDs), PLC basics, and power distribution
