Debt Recovery Officer

Job Purpose

The Debt Recovery Officer is responsible for managing and recovering outstanding debts from clients, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining healthy cash flow for the organization. This role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with the finance team to implement effective recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and track outstanding invoices and overdue accounts
• Contact clients to negotiate repayment plans and ensure timely settlement of debts
• Develop and implement debt recovery strategies in line with company policies
• Maintain accurate records of all communications and recovery activities
• Prepare regular reports on debt recovery status for the CFO and management team
• Liaise with legal teams when necessary to initiate recovery actions
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
• Analyze payment trends and recommend improvements to credit control processes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in debt recovery, credit control, or financial collections
• Oil & gas industry experience is an advantage
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet recovery targets
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with financial software
