## Title: Database/System Administrator
Job Summary
An established IT firm in Abuja is seeking a skilled Database/System Administrator to join their team. The Database/System Administrator is responsible for the overall management, security, performance, and reliability of the company and its customers' IT systems and databases. This role ensures that business-critical applications and data are available, optimized, and secure while maintaining the underlying servers and system infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain database servers (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL), including monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting issues
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize efficiency
- Ensure data security and integrity, including implementation of access controls, backups, and recovery plans
- Execute disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure database availability during system outages or dysfunction
- Perform regular data integrity checks and troubleshoot database-related issues
- Write and deploy SQL patches
- Provide seamless information flow by keeping the database running smoothly
- Design, implement, and maintain customers' IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows)
- Administer and support core Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, Cloud, and virtualization technologies
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and system security policies
- Proactively manage and maintain server, cloud, network, storage systems, and virtualization platforms
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of IT services
- Implement system updates and upgrades
- Identify and implement database requirements for new or existing applications by working collaboratively with other teams
- Deliver end-to-end IT business systems integration and support requirements
