## Title: Credit Control Manager – Accounts Receivable

Position Overview

An established company is seeking a Credit Control Manager to lead the credit control function within the finance department. This role is responsible for managing a team that recovers unpaid debt and outstanding payments owed to the organisation from both business (commercial) and individual (consumer) clients. The credit function plays a vital role in ensuring invoices are paid on time and supporting the organisation's financial health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a team of Credit Control Officers
  • Formulate and implement the company's credit policy to mitigate unnecessary risk
  • Review credit applications and credit references to set appropriate credit limits and assess credit worthiness
  • Prepare journal entries, credit notes, and assist with month-end closing procedures
  • Review and report on aged debtors to identify collection priorities
  • Negotiate and maintain relationships with third-party debt collection agencies
  • Manage write-offs, bad debt provisions, and establish payment plans
  • Support the broader accounts team with credit-related functions
  • Regularly review processes and procedures to reduce debtor days and improve cash flow

Required Skills and Attributes

  • At least 5 years' experience in credit control, accounts receivable, and accounting
  • Proven end-to-end credit control and accounts receivable process expertise
  • Working knowledge of credit law
  • Staff management and team leadership experience
  • Strong accounting and reconciliation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly during difficult customer negotiations
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong multitasking and organisational abilities
  • Intermediate proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Excel and accounting packages
