A top employer is now accepting applications for this role. About the job - We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to determine the costs of business activities—such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Your primary goal is to provide management with accurate reports that identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall financial performance. Key Responsibilities: - Cost & Variance Analysis: Collect and compile cost information to set standard costs for manufactured goods. Perform detailed variance analysis, comparing actual production costs to standard costs, and investigate any discrepancies. - Inventory Management: Oversee and reconcile physical inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Monitor cycle count programs and ensure the accuracy of inventory valuation. - Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop operational budgets. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts and report performance against budget. - Process Improvement: Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend cost-control measures to maximize profit margins. - Financial Reporting: Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Prepare margin analysis reports by product or department to support strategic pricing decisions. - Audit Support: Maintain audit schedules and provide necessary documentation for both internal and external audits. Required Skills and Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Experience: 3–5 years of cost accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing or production environment. - Technical Proficiency: - Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling). - Proficiency in ERP systems - Analytical Thinking: Strong numerical ability with a focus on problem-solving and data-driven decision-making. - Certifications (Preferred): Active pursuit or completion of ACA/ACCA
