## Title: Corporate Commercial Associate - Energy & Infrastructure
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified corporate commercial associate to join our practice. You will provide comprehensive legal advisory and transaction support on energy and infrastructure projects, with a focus on drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advisory and transaction support on energy and infrastructure projects (oil & gas, power, mining, renewables, transportation, construction, etc.)
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including project finance agreements, EPC contracts, joint venture agreements, concession agreements, and offtake contracts
- Conduct due diligence on corporate, regulatory, and contractual issues in energy and infrastructure transactions
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (including DPR/NUPRC, NERC, Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Power) to secure licenses, permits, and approvals
- Advise on compliance with Nigerian laws, regulations, and international best practices governing energy and infrastructure sectors
- Support dispute resolution (litigation and arbitration) related to energy and infrastructure matters
- Contribute to thought leadership by preparing articles, client alerts, and participating in industry events
- Mentor and supervise junior associates and interns within the practice group
- Maintain strong client relationships and actively contribute to business development
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Excellent knowledge of Nigerian energy and infrastructure laws, regulations, and policies
- Familiarity with cross-border transactions, financing structures, and international best practices in the sector
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
- Strong research and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
- Team-oriented with leadership potential
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university
- Barrister-at-Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School
- Master's Degree (LL.M) or relevant international qualification (preferred)
