Civil / Structural Road Engineer at AIM Consultants

Purpose

The Road Engineer will provide the Project with quality engineering design and supervision services and advice for rehabilitation, renovation and construction of assigned projects. The Road Engineer will be required to audit construction conformance with design specifications and supervise road construction works to ensure the interests of the client are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide design and drafting services for the roads design team during preliminary and detail design phases of projects
• Monitor progress of assigned road projects
• Prepare drawings in accordance with client requirements, Host Government standards, and internationally recognized formats
• Create design drawings using AutoCAD or similar software
• Supervise works and approve all materials, construction techniques, and workmanship on a day-to-day basis
• Interpret survey results into technical drawings
• Promote and improve professional standards for road engineering design
• Provide expert advice on all aspects of works undertaken, including Project Supervision, Measurements, Contracts Monitoring, and Quality Control
• Advise the Project Manager on all project matters
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the QA/QC Engineer or Project Manager

Required Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in civil or road engineering
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer-based design packages
• Registration with relevant professional bodies (COREN, NSE, etc.)

Required Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work as part of a team
• Proven ability to deliver design tasks on time
• Skilled in monthly report writing for clients
