Job Overview

Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited is seeking an experienced Chinese Translator to join our team in a full-time, on-site position in Lagos, Nigeria.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of both Chinese and English, with the ability to accurately translate and interpret in both languages, and the capacity to hear, speak, and translate Chinese fluently.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate oral and written translations from Chinese to English and vice versa
• Interpret spoken communication at various occasions and on-site interactions between Chinese and non-Chinese speaking staff
• Facilitate communication between the security team and Chinese management
• Translate security documents, patrol reports, and emergency plans
• Assist in managing security patrols and ensure timely communication of emergencies
• Support the Head of Production Department in supervision of daily activities at the factory site
• Monitor all production activities and ensure production staff carry out their duties efficiently
• Translate production documents, meeting contents, and technical training materials
• Act as a cultural bridge between Chinese and Nigerian staff, facilitating clear communication and mutual understanding

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.Sc) with 2–3 years of experience
• Proven experience in translation and interpretation, preferably in a mining, business, or technical environment
• Fluent in both Chinese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages
• Responsibility and good management skills
• Fluency in Hausa (speaking and hearing) is a plus
• Experience studying or working in China is a plus
