## Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Fintech

About the Role

An established fintech company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead strategic operations across global remittance and POS/terminal markets. You will work closely with the CEO to define and execute long-term strategy while overseeing all operational aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the CEO to define and execute the company's long-term strategy for global remittance and POS/terminal markets
  • Drive operational plans that align with growth, compliance, and profitability goals
  • Lead cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, compliance, finance, and customer support—toward shared KPIs

Operations & Scaling

  • Build and optimize operational processes for money transfer services, POS/terminal deployments, merchant onboarding, and settlement operations
  • Establish performance metrics, SLAs, and OKRs to track and improve service delivery and transaction efficiency
  • Oversee vendor management and partnerships with banks, payment processors, and technology providers

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure the company meets all regulatory requirements for International Money Transfer Operators (IMTO), POS/payment service providers, AML/KYC, and data privacy across Canada and Nigeria
  • Work closely with the Compliance Officer to manage audits, licensing renewals, and risk assessments

Financial & Business Management

  • Partner with the CFO/Finance Lead on budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
  • Support fundraising efforts by providing operational insights, scalability plans, and investor presentations

Team Building & Culture

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team across multiple geographies
  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture that values innovation and customer focus

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fintech, payments, or financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior operations role
  • Proven success in scaling cross-border remittance or POS/terminal businesses
  • Deep understanding of payment processes, settlement systems, and financial infrastructure
