Position Overview

The Governing Council of the University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Bursar. This Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer role will become vacant on 1 February 2026.

About the Role

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and reports to the Vice Chancellor. The position holder will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and control of the University's financial affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, and investment activities
• Initiate, coordinate, and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency of the University's financial system
• Manage human and material resources effectively
• Maintain accountability, transparency, and integrity in all financial operations
• Provide strong leadership and stakeholder engagement across the University

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with honours in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized institution
• Full membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ANAN, or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience
• At least 3 years at the level of Deputy Bursar or equivalent in a University or comparable institution
• Maximum age of 58 years

Required Skills and Attributes

• Proven competence in financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, and investment
• Practical knowledge of ICT applications and relevant accounting and financial management software
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated team building and mentoring abilities
• Ability to relate effectively with diverse stakeholders within and outside the University
• High degree of accountability, transparency, and integrity
• Distinguished financial expertise with outstanding financial administrative background
• Proven success in managing human and material resources
