Backend Engineer – E-commerce

A top employer is now accepting applications for this role. Role Overview - Kaiglo is hiring a Backend Engineer to build, scale, and stabilize its e-commerce platform. The role focuses on backend services that power vendor onboarding, payments, orders, logistics, and overall platform performance. Key Responsibilities: - Build and maintain backend services using Java (11+) and Spring Boot - Develop and optimize RESTful APIs for web and mobile apps - Manage and optimize MongoDB databases - Integrate third-party services (Paystack/Flutterwave, logistics, SMS, email) - Implement Redis caching and support Kafka event-driven processes - Improve platform reliability, scalability, and security - Monitor, debug, and resolve backend issues using Sentry & Elasticsearch - Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA teams - Support logging, monitoring, and performance improvements - Run background jobs and scheduled tasks Required Skills & Experience - 2–4 years experience as a Backend Engineer - Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs - Experience with MongoDB, Redis, Kafka - Payment gateway integration experience - Knowledge of JWT/OAuth2 authentication - Experience with AWS (S3, SES) and Git - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills Nice to Have - E-commerce or marketplace experience - Docker, CI/CD, Spring Cloud - Elasticsearch, observability tools - SMS gateway and mobile app support experience
