Assistant Manager, Internal Audit at First Excelsia

About the Role

Our client, a leading mortgage institution, is seeking a competent Assistant Manager, Internal Audit to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing audit assignments to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across the bank.

The role holder will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and professional audit standards while providing value-adding recommendations that enhance operational efficiency and safeguard the bank's assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement audit plans and strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices
• Conduct regular audits of various departments and functions to identify areas of improvement and ensure adherence to policies and procedures
• Provide guidance and recommendations to management on best practices for risk mitigation and process improvement
• Monitor and report on audit findings, trends, and emerging risks to senior management and the board of directors
• Lead a team of audit professionals, providing mentorship, training, and performance management to ensure continued growth and development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA
• Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in internal audit, preferably in a banking or financial services environment
• Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and regulatory frameworks
• In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, accounting standards, and industry best practices
