Assistant Maintenance Officer at Start-Rite Schools

About the Position

Start-Rite Schools is recruiting an Assistant Maintenance Officer to join its maintenance team. This role involves supporting the school's infrastructure and facilities through routine maintenance, repairs, and facility management.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks including fixing leaks, repairing appliances, and replacing light bulbs
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and grounds to identify potential issues or safety hazards
• Assist with diagnosing and fixing equipment malfunctions and performing minor repairs on structures
• Support the installation of new equipment, fixtures, and furniture
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner
• Document all maintenance activities, work completed, and equipment repair needs
• Adhere to all safety protocols, industry standards, and health regulations
• Collaborate with and provide support to the broader maintenance team and senior technicians
• Assist with the management of fixed assets, including inventory tracking and proper asset release

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems; ability to operate hand and power tools
• Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify issues and find effective solutions
• Communication: Effective communication skills to report issues and coordinate with team members
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring hand-eye coordination
• Experience: Proven general maintenance experience is beneficial; entry-level candidates with a willingness to learn may be considered with on-the-job training
