## Title: Mathematics Teacher

About the Role

American International School of Lagos is seeking an experienced Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic educational community. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' learning and development in a progressive international school environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience at a progressive and/or international school
  • Current international qualification or certification in teaching
  • Experience in a school that serves as a hub of the community

Required Knowledge

  • Child development: social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of children
  • Understanding by Design (UbD) or backwards design methodology
  • Standards-based assessment and reporting
  • High-impact, research-based instructional strategies
  • Classroom management and positive discipline approaches
  • Child protection and safeguarding practices
  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

Required Skills and Aptitudes

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use technology applications that enhance learning, communication, and school improvement
  • Commitment to inclusion and fostering a sense of belonging for all students
  • Ability to differentiate instruction through scaffolding, grouping practices, and student choice to meet diverse learning needs
  • Willingness to make a positive difference in students' lives beyond the classroom
  • Ability to provide targeted, timely, and actionable feedback
  • Comfort with multiple perspectives and their place within the classroom and community
  • Results-oriented approach with demonstrated skill in using data to inform teaching and learning
