Accounting Teacher at Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS)

Position Overview

Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Teacher to join our expanding team. This role involves teaching Business Studies, Economics, and Accounting to KS3 and KS4 students within a British National Curriculum framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in Business Studies, Economics, and Accounting for KS3 and KS4 students
• Teach according to the British National Curriculum, preparing students for (I)GCSE examinations (Cambridge IGCSE, AQA GCSE, and similar)
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes interest in learning
• Assess students' classwork and assignments; maintain comprehensive assessment records
• Implement the school's teaching and learning policy, following established procedures for assessing, recording, and reporting student progress, and setting targets for improvement in line with whole school policy
• Support students' development of critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills
• Provide learning interventions across all three disciplines for students who require additional support
• Monitor and report on student progress regularly, maintaining up-to-date attendance and assessment records
• Ensure safeguarding and protect the welfare of children and young people
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, school training, and whole-school events
• Contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum resources
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting, Business Studies, or a closely related field
• Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, TRCN, or equivalent)
• Minimum of 6 years proven experience teaching Business Studies, Economics, and/or Accounting at KS3 and KS4 level
• Experience teaching within a British curriculum international context preferred
• Strong track record of achieving excellent student outcomes at (I)GCSE level
