## Title: Accountant
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance with local financial regulations (including FIRS and state taxes), and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to Nigerian Accounting Standards (NAS) or IFRS
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including preparing trial balances and final accounts
- Ensure all revenues, expenditures, and assets are properly recorded and classified
Compliance and Taxation
- Oversee and ensure timely remittance and filing of all statutory deductions and taxes, including PAYE, WHT (Withholding Tax), VAT (Value Added Tax), and Company Income Tax (CIT) to relevant authorities (FIRS, State Revenue Services)
- Prepare and manage regulatory financial reports and liaise with internal and external auditors during year-end audits
Budgeting and Internal Controls
- Assist in the preparation of company budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow statements
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring prompt invoicing and payment processing
Payroll
- Process and manage the monthly payroll function, ensuring accurate deductions and timely disbursement of salaries
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Completion or progression towards professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent)
