Accountant (Ajah) at Total Child School

About the Role

Total Child School is seeking a qualified Accountant to join our team in Ajah, Lagos. You will be responsible for managing the school's financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Monitor budgets, expenditures, and financial performance across departments
• Prepare and process payments, invoices, and payroll accurately and on time
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure the integrity of all financial records
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts in collaboration with relevant departments
• Manage petty cash and monitor school fees and receivables
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
• Advise on cost reduction, financial risks, and resource optimization
• Maintain an organized filing system of financial records for audit and management review

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a similar accounting role
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws, payroll, and regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA)
• Previous experience in a school or tertiary institution
