A dynamic team is expanding and looking for the right talent. Job Purpose The Accountant is responsible for managing the school’s financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting sound financial decision-making. The role ensures proper accounting, budgeting, reporting, payroll administration, and financial controls within the school. Key ReTYEGN,sponsibilities Financial Accounting & Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Manage the general ledger and reconcile accounts monthly.
  • Maintain fixed asset register.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Support school leadership in financial forecasting.
  • Provide financial insights to guide strategic decisions.
Revenue Management
  • Oversee school fees processing and reconciliation.
  • Monitor outstanding fees and follow up on receivables.
  • Reconcile income from various sources (tuition, events, donations, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and receipt issuance.
Expenditure Management
  • Process vendor payments and staff reimbursements.
  • Ensure all expenditures are properly approved and budgeted.
  • Maintain records of procurement and payment documentation.
  • Monitor cost control measures.
Payroll Administration
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll.
  • Ensure statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, pension, NHF, etc.) are accurately calculated and remitted.
  • Maintain payroll records and staff financial documentation.
Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Prepare documents for internal and external audits.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies when required.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Produce income and expenditure statements.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
  • Present financial summaries to school leadership/board when required.
Banking & Cash Management
  • Manage school bank accounts.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity.
  • Ensure safe custody of petty cash.
