Position Overview:
- A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (R&A) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, cold rooms, freezers, and industrial cooling units.
- They ensure optimal functionality, energy efficiency, and safety in residential, commercial, or manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup: Install new AC units, cold rooms, and refrigeration systems, including setting up electrical connections, piping, and testing performance after installation.
- Maintenance & Servicing: Perform regular preventive maintenance, such as cleaning coils, filters, fans, and condensers, to prevent system breakdowns.
- Diagnostics & Repair: troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, replace defective parts (compressors, motors, thermostats), and repair refrigerant leaks.
- System Monitoring: Monitor temperature controls, pressure levels, and overall system performance to ensure efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly concerning refrigerant handling.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, spare parts used, and technical reports.

- Education: Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical certification (Trade Test I, II, & III).
- Experience: Generally, 2–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC/refrigeration.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical circuits.
- Tools Proficiency: Ability to use specific tools like manifolds, vacuum pumps, and leak detectors.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work in varied environments.

- Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose complex faults efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to maintenance and safety standards.
- Communication: Good verbal communication for interacting with clients or facility management.
Typical Working Conditions:
