Description du poste
Context
Since the beginning of 2022, the security situation in Niger remains volatile. Humanitarian access in some areas is one of the main challenges in the implementation of humanitarian responses in Niger, particularly in the Tillaberi, Tahoua, Maradi, and Diffa regions. The presence of multiple armed actors has contributed to restricting humanitarian space.
Faced with this situation, strengthening humanitarian coordination to promote access is essential. The Access Working Group (AWG/Access) was established in Niger with the objective to contribute to a more effective and coordinated humanitarian response, support the efforts of the Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) and Humanitarian Country Team (HCT), and analyse access constraints to resolve bottlenecks. The AWG functions as an analytical and advisory body to improve humanitarian access in the long term.
NRC, as an active member of this body, wishes to strengthen its participation by providing dedicated staff to act as co-lead alongside OCHA.
About the Position
The Access Working Group Co-Lead will be solely focused on co-chairing the Niger Access Working Group (AWG-Niger) alongside OCHA. While the position is hosted by NRC, the Access Working Group Co-Lead will spend significant amounts of time in the offices of working group members to support improved collaboration and collective outcomes.
About NRC Niger
NRC Niger is looking for an experienced and committed staff member who would provide their expertise to the leadership of the group for effective and efficient implementation of the access strategy in Niger.
Location
Maradi, Niger
