## Title: Laboratory Technician - Optical Microscopy Platform

About the Role

UM6P Corelabs is recruiting a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team within the Optical Microscopy Platform in the Bioscience CoreLab. The CoreLab serves as a platform to support technical and scientific research within UM6P and as a service provider to external customers. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing laboratory tasks, operating and maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth execution of daily activities to support both internal UM6P researchers and faculty, as well as external clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Perform sample reception, storage, preparation, and processing
  • Analyze, process, and integrate tissue samples
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microtomes, cryostats, and tissue processors
  • Verify the quality and reliability of collected data
  • Assist in identifying laboratory needs and testing new equipment

Sample Preparation and Analysis

  • Prepare and process biological samples following established protocols
  • Produce high-quality histology slides
  • Perform quality control on samples
  • Carry out analytical tasks as required for laboratory experiments
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities

Protocols and Methods

  • Follow and support the implementation of laboratory procedures
  • Contribute to the improvement of preparation techniques

General Responsibilities

  • Handle and organize laboratory supplies and consumables
  • Ensure correct storage and handling of samples
  • Provide basic technical assistance to researchers and laboratory users
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures in the laboratory
  • Participate in the division's accreditation process
  • Support daily laboratory activities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Histology, Plant or Vegetal Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field
  • Preferably 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in histology, anatomy, and anatomopathology (for plant and/or animal samples)
