About the Role
St. Paul's University is seeking a dedicated Student Counsellor Assistant to support the University counsellor in promoting the mental health and emotional well-being of students. In this role, you will provide high-quality counselling services to students experiencing a wide range of social, emotional, and health issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the University counsellor to deliver mental health support services
- Provide counselling services addressing student social, emotional, and health concerns
- Support student development and address identified needs
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure data protection compliance
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Counselling Psychology or related field from a recognized university
- Minimum two years of experience, preferably in an educational setting
- Knowledge and experience in counselling principles, techniques, and practices as applied to student problems and developmental needs
- Excellent active listening and communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum or no supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and mediating techniques
- Knowledge of addiction and substance use
