Position Overview
Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) seeks experienced professors to provide leadership in ICT Engineering with a focus on Computer Systems and Software Development. This position offers significant opportunities for career growth and academic impact.
The role entails designing, developing, and implementing teaching and learning programmes; developing and implementing research strategies within your area of specialization; mobilizing resources; mentoring academic staff and students; establishing academic-industry collaborations; and championing the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages nationally, regionally, and internationally within your area of specialization
- Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies
- Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
- Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
- Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes
- Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
- Provide academic leadership by fostering a vibrant and productive academic environment
- Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
- Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
- Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
- Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders and industry in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
