Professor/Associate Professor - ICT Engineering - Al: Machine Learning at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST)

Position Overview

Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Professor and Associate Professor positions in ICT Engineering with a specialization in Machine Learning.

These positions entail providing leadership in the design, development, and implementation of teaching and learning programmes at the Institute. Successful candidates will be responsible for developing and implementing the Institute's research strategies within their area of specialization, mobilizing resources, mentoring academic staff and students, establishing academic-industry collaborations, and championing the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages in machine learning and ICT engineering at national, regional, and international levels
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies in areas of specialization
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
• Promote the development of innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with the Institute's quality framework, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify learning needs of students and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess students' learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Develop and maintain laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in relevant thematic areas
• Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in the area of specialization
• Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry in technology transfer and commercialization of innovation
