About the Position
Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is seeking a dynamic Physics Lecturer to join an expanding team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to teaching excellence and research innovation in the Department of Physics.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Physics or equivalent from a recognized academic institution, OR a Master's degree in Physics from a recognized academic institution
- Minimum three (3) years of teaching or research experience at university level (required for Master's degree holders)
- Minimum 24 publication points, with at least 16 from refereed journal papers
- Strong proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital instructional tools
- Master's degree holders must demonstrate intention to pursue a Doctorate degree
- Excellent communication, mentorship, and teamwork skills
- Evidence of active contribution to university life through departmental and faculty participation, quality teaching, meeting attendance, student academic advising, and committee membership
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and evaluate undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Set, moderate, administer, process, and mark examinations
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students on academic matters
- Articulate the Vision and Mission of the University, Department, and Faculty
- Initiate, plan, and conduct research
- Develop teaching and learning materials aligned with curriculum standards
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities
- Develop research proposals for funding opportunities
- Participate in research-related conferences and build interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside the department
- Contribute to the preparation of departmental and faculty strategic plans
- Organize and supervise educational activities for students at all levels
- Attend and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences relevant to the field
