Night Supervisor at AAR Hospital

Job Purpose

The Night Supervisor provides managerial and clinical oversight on behalf of the nurse manager and department leadership during night shifts. This role serves as the executive-on-call link and includes responsibility for utilization review protocols to support physicians and staff in admission status assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote the organization's mission, vision, and values
• Assess patient care requirements across all units by conducting rounds in the Emergency Department (ED) and other hospital areas according to departmental needs and activity levels
• Evaluate the acuity of care required by patients in relation to staffing arrangements and nursing ratios
• Develop and implement shift staffing plans based on patient acuity, census, and available staff
• Serve as a clinical resource to staff for solving patient care problems
• Assist staff in efficiently utilizing resources to meet patient care requirements and professional responsibilities
• Provide immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to appropriate managers and directors
• Respond to emergency situations (Rapid Response Team, Code Blue) and provide assistance as necessary
• Identify and resolve administrative and operational problems in collaboration with clinical staff
• Proactively anticipate and prevent actual or potential problems, setting appropriate shift priorities
• Work collaboratively with nursing and allied staff to solve problems in a fair and consistent manner
• Contact representatives from relevant departments for timely assistance with problem-solving
• Interpret and ensure adherence to hospital and nursing philosophy, policies, and procedures
• Report significant incidents to the administrator-on-call
