Junior Accountant at Emerge Egress Consulting

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Junior Accountant to join our team in Nairobi. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in financial reporting
• Monitor and manage cash flow, optimizing liquidity to meet operational needs
• Implement strategies to efficiently manage working capital, balancing receivables and payables
• Identify and assess financial risks, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
• Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
• Implement measures to control expenses while maintaining operational effectiveness
• Ensure compliance with local authorities, statutory bodies, and internal controls, coordinating with tax authorities as necessary
• Manage accounts receivable and oversee the monthly invoicing cycle and reconciliations
• Prepare management reports, financial statements, and other finance-related reports and correspondence
• Resolve finance-related queries and issues
• Manage creditors and ensure timely payments, taking into account settlement discounts
• Oversee debt collection where required and assist with problem-solving
• Maintain and nurture strong relationships with banking partners to optimize financial services
• Ensure smooth and efficient bank reconciliations and transaction management
• Ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers while maintaining positive relationships and optimizing cash flow
• Maintain records and documentation for financial transparency
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• B.Com Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Financial Management
• CPA Intermediate Level or equivalent
