About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join our kitchen team in a Commis Cook position specializing in Indian cuisine.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, breads, and accompaniments
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Support other chefs in daily kitchen operations and menu preparation
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with hygiene and safety standards
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and check quality of ingredients
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Learn and grow within the kitchen team, contributing ideas and enthusiasm

Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar role at a reputable hotel
• Basic knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and recipes
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Team-oriented with good communication skills
• A certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts is an added advantage
