Head of Risk at DIB Bank Kenya Limited (DIBBKE)

Job Purpose

To provide overall technical and leadership oversight of risk management, credit administration, recovery, and special assets. Develop and implement effective strategies, policies, procedures, and frameworks across these areas to ensure optimal risk governance and organizational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design risk frameworks and define risk tolerance limits to ensure risks remain within board-approved thresholds
• Develop and periodically review Risk MIS and Portfolio Quality reports to enable active risk management and alignment with established tolerance levels
• Update Senior Management and Board of Directors on matters related to risk management, credit administration, recovery, and special assets management
• Ensure effective risk and credit systems are in place to optimize credit and risk reporting processes and meet business requirements
• Develop and implement risk and credit management policies and frameworks across all risk and business areas, ensuring appropriate risk/reward balance and market alignment
• Serve as member of Executive Committee, Management Committee, Board Credit Committee, Collection Committee, Investment Committee, Risk Management Committee, and ALCO
• Build and retain a competent team of risk management, credit administration, recovery, and special assets professionals with effective succession planning to ensure business continuity
• Meet with and present to representatives from rating agencies, foreign banks, consultants, internal and external auditors on risk management matters
• Review internal and external audit reports and coordinate with support and business units to address identified concerns
• Review external credit and risk agency reports and provide feedback on findings
• Evaluate all credit proposals carefully and provide logical recommendations for submission to relevant authority levels and credit committee for approval
