Role Overview

The Facilities and Maintenance Officer will be responsible for maintaining institutional facilities, managing facility resource inventory, and inspecting various spaces within the school and common areas to ensure they meet the school's standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Health Act, and other relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure institutional facilities are well maintained and safe at all times through preventative maintenance and repair work on buildings, offices, classrooms, and all other spaces within the school
• Support the Head of Operations and Finance in providing organizational control over facility conditions to avoid and/or reduce impact on school operations
• Receive and evaluate repair requests from staff and personnel to determine if repairs should be performed in-house or through contracted repair services
• Document repair request completion, including time requirements, repair and parts costs, and notification of completion to relevant parties
• Maintain detailed records on all facilities, including repair records, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair costs
• Schedule all maintenance inspections related to school facilities and ensure inspections are current and compliant with relevant codes and standards
• Maintain a variety of hand and shop tools and equipment
• Maintain an inventory of commonly used repair parts in a clean and orderly location

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Facilities Management, Maintenance, Real Estate, or Property Management from a recognized college or institution (or equivalent)
• 3 years of relevant experience
• Valid certificate of good conduct
