About the Role
Siaya County Government is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Deputy Director of Strategy, Monitoring & Evaluation. In this position, you will support the Director in overseeing the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation section while driving strategic economic development initiatives at the county level.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director with day-to-day operations of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation section
- Direct economic planning functions and oversee production of statistical data at the county level
- Coordinate and formulate county development strategies, policies and programs in collaboration with the department responsible for economic planning and other departments
- Collate and present statistical data from survey reports and bulletins
- Prepare county development plans and coordinate county positions on international economic subjects
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies and programs
- Plan and manage human resources, including projection of manpower needs and training to meet county development objectives
- Conduct population surveys and compile data for planning and social services
- Undertake manpower surveys and labor force studies in conjunction with the department responsible for employment
- Monitor unemployment trends in the county
- Assist in collection, collation, processing and administration of statistical data in accordance with the Statistics Act
- Formulate coordinated strategies, policies and programs for harmonious development of economic sectors
- Conduct sectoral studies and research, monitoring changes in key economic indicators and sectoral efficiency
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- At least three (3) years of service at the grade of Deputy Chief Economist or Deputy Chief Statistician, OR at least twelve (12) years of relevant experience in economic planning or statistical data compilation and production in the county or public sector, with a minimum of three (3) years in a Senior Economic Policy Research or Planning position
