Role Objective
A leading law firm in Nairobi seeks a qualified advocate to join their team. The successful candidate will be well-versed in commercial and conveyancing matters, providing comprehensive legal services to clients in property transactions and commercial dealings.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Offer legal advice to clients on the legal processes involved in purchasing and selling of property
- Conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions, prepare sale agreements and completion documents
- Ensure proper registration of documents with relevant authorities
- Prepare property lease agreements and ensure contracts are duly signed as scheduled
- Liaise with clients and key stakeholders including mortgage lenders, Land Registry, Government Departments, estate agents, land valuers, and surveyors
- Assist with due diligence and other intellectual property issues related to contracts, agreements, and transactional matters
- Enhance the firm's client base through effective liaison with existing clients
- Provide legal opinions on matters relating to property and real estate
- Draft conveyancing and legal documents
- Send terms of engagement and fee estimates to clients
- Oversee handling of all client matters before the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, Survey of Kenya, and National Lands Commission
- Prepare security documents and ensure they are properly executed and registered
- Provide legal advice on commercial and corporate transactions
- Negotiate, draft, and review commercial contracts and legal documents to ensure proper execution
- Perform any other duties as assigned
