About the Role
A dynamic team is expanding and seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and client relationships in the Kenya Coast region. This senior role combines business development strategy, client management, and marketing expertise within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and track comprehensive annual Business Development and Marketing strategies
- Generate new business and manage relationships with key corporate clients and stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with busy partners and lawyers, encouraging their participation in BD activities
- Articulate complex legal matters in a commercial context to clients
- Execute digital and non-digital marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and communications
- Travel regularly within the Coast region, to Nairobi headquarters, and to other regional African offices as required
- Produce proposals and reports demonstrating business development results
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) with current practicing status
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a senior Business Development or Client Relationship Management role
- Significant experience within a professional services environment, preferably in a law firm
- Proven track record of generating new business and managing client relationships
- Deep understanding of the local economy (tourism, port, trade, real estate) within the Kenya Coast region (Mombasa, Kilifi, Malindi, Kwale, Lamu)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree: MBA or specialized Master's in Marketing
- Professional certification (e.g., CIM, Project Management/PMP)
- Experience working with organizations having multi-jurisdictional or regional African presence
Required Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional networking, interpersonal, and PR skills
- Solid knowledge of digital and non-digital marketing techniques, brand visibility, and communications strategy
- Understanding of attorney-client relationships and commercial acumen
- Strong ability to work collaboratively and influence senior colleagues
- Excellent written communication skills for proposals and reports
- Excellent verbal communication skills for presentations and networking
- Proficiency in English; proficiency in Kiswahili is highly advantageous, especially for the Coast region
Location
Nairobi, Kenya (with regular travel to the Coast region and other regional African offices)
