About the Role

Our client, a global leader in payment and capital market solutions with over 45 years of industry experience, is expanding its presence in Africa. We are seeking 6 driven Software Engineers to develop, enhance, and support software solutions in a collaborative, dynamic environment. You will work closely with the Lead Senior Software Engineer, contributing to cutting-edge financial market solutions used by major institutions across Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance market infrastructure software solutions as part of a delivery team
• Conduct testing and quality assurance
• Document deliverables
• Provide maintenance and support for existing solutions
• Work in the Nairobi office in a dynamic environment, ensuring tight collaboration within the team and with cross-office teams
• Work under the direction and supervision of the Lead Senior Software Engineer

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software engineering fundamentals
• Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
• Proficiency in Java
• Demonstrable knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong work ethic, curiosity, and collaborative mindset
• Effective team player able to take and carry out instructions under direction of the Lead Senior Software Engineer

Preferred Qualifications & Advantages

• Knowledge of Jakarta EE and Spring Boot
• Demonstrable ability to understand and evolve existing codebases with strong debugging and code comprehension skills
• Knowledge of Docker, Linux, and Gradle
• Multi-lingual abilities (English plus French, Portuguese, or Spanish)
• Familiarity with financial systems, payment solutions, and platforms
• Master's degree
• Additional certifications in Software Engineering and related specializations
