About the Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join the Center for Domestic Training and Development in Nairobi, Kenya as a Social Worker and Education Officer.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Case Management and Assessment
- Identify at-risk vulnerable girls, women, and refugees at risk of neglect, abuse, and exploitation through best interest assessment and review of referral notes
- Conduct home visits and follow-up on social factors to establish facts and allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation to develop concrete case plans
- Conduct assessments to determine whether a parent/caregiver is fit to provide care and prepare reports for legal action
- Maintain case files and complete extensive documentation and administrative tasks related to case management
Support and Referral Services
- Conduct referrals for vulnerable girls, women, and refugees to partner agencies and follow up to facilitate access to external services not offered at the shelter
- Provide basic counseling and psycho-education to vulnerable girls, women, and refugees and refer complex cases to the counselor for continued counseling
Education and Monitoring
- Organize and manage education activities and supervise learning at the shelter
- Monitor school progress, write school reports for children, and manage sponsor relations
Safety and Facility Management
- Ensure residents' adherence to safety and security standard operating procedures and report incidents in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Manage donations inventory and ensure the inventory system is up-to-date by monitoring receipt, issue, and recording of all food and non-food items
- Continuously review food preparation and storage systems to ensure hygiene standards
- Supervise and maintain logs of all facilities and equipment maintenance for work done on the property
Reporting and Organizational Duties
- Attend internal staff meetings as requested and represent the organization in various networking forums or events
- Prepare and provide high-quality weekly, monthly, and annual reports highlighting progress and client needs
- Perform any other duties as required from time to time
