Senior Technologist III - Grade VIII (Surveying) at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST)

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for providing technical support to teaching departments and guiding students on their technical work. The role involves offering practical classes, setting and administering practical examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory budgeting and stock taking for requisition of materials
• Participate in departmental committees and internal laboratory and workshops auditing
• Ensure safe keeping and disposal of waste left behind after practicals
• Obtain and set up equipment for practicals and demonstrations
• Collect and prepare teaching and research materials
• Manage laboratory waste segregation and disposal
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory and workshop equipment
• Coordinate, invigilate and mark practical examinations
• Compile and facilitate the acquisition of laboratory and workshop teaching and research supplies to ensure availability at the point of use
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate practicals and workshop practice
• Assist in the organization and participation in shows and exhibitions
• Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of specialization; OR
• Higher National Diploma in a relevant area with a minimum of three (3) years of working experience; OR
• Diploma in a relevant area with a minimum of nine (9) years of working experience, at least three (3) of which as Technician Grade 7
• Membership in a recognized professional body and in good standing
• Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role
