Senior Finance Officer at Habitat for Humanity International

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join our expanding dynamic team at Habitat for Humanity International in Nairobi, Kenya. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in managing financial operations for a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Finance and Operations Manager in developing, documenting, implementing, and monitoring financial transactions to ensure accurate and timely recording in the Sun System
• Code financial transactions in accordance with fund accounting policies and donor reporting frameworks (DBL, Project codes, and function codes)
• Ensure financial reports are provided to stakeholders by prescribed deadlines
• Develop, document, and monitor internal control processes to prevent loss and misuse of organizational assets
• Prepare and analyze accurate "Actual vs. Budget" financial statements from the National Office's financial database
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and monitor performance and efficiency
• Ensure delivery of complete balance sheet reconciliation on a monthly basis
• Prepare organizational monthly and quarterly forecasts
• Supervise and review petty cash and supplier payments in compliance with finance policies
• Provide oversight on bank management

Key Performance Measures

• Ensure sound financial management for Habitat for Humanity Kenya (HFHK)
• Enforce strict implementation of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and HFHK policies
• Deliver timely and high-quality internal and external financial reporting
• Demonstrate strong people management skills to lead and develop the finance team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
• Professional qualification: CPA, ACCA, or CIM

Experience Required

• 7-10 years of work experience in a busy organization, private business, or non-governmental organization
• Minimum 2 years at management level with responsibility for overseeing the Finance function
