About the Role

Kibabii University College is expanding its dynamic team and seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance department in Nairobi, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret, advise on, and coordinate implementation of government financial regulations, procedures, and policies
• Spearhead the formulation and review of financial management and accounting procedures
• Oversee preparation of annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with public sector and donor financial reporting guidelines
• Oversee preparation and implementation of financial manuals and procedures
• Authorize payments and ensure compliance with expenditure limits
• Review the application of accounting standards and systems
• Monitor and ensure timely production of management and statutory financial reports
• Institute accounting and internal control procedures
• Formulate financial management procedures
• Ensure that all donor and government grants are accounted for appropriately
• Prepare, plan, and coordinate external audits
• Approve and correct financial documentation

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration (Finance or Accounting option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the grade of Accountant I (Grade AD 12) or comparable position
• CPA III or ACCA III certification from a recognized institution
• Current membership in a recognized professional accounting body in good standing
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate in Senior Management Course (minimum four weeks)
