## Title: Sanctuary Manager

About the Position

Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa is recruiting a Sanctuary Manager to oversee operations at Taita Hills & Salt Lick Wildlife Resort Ltd.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational work plans in collaboration with the Sanctuary's Senior Managers
  • Oversee sanctuary activities, including ecological monitoring, tourism operations, infrastructure maintenance, and game drive coordination
  • Attend sanctuary and departmental head meetings as required
  • Participate in ranger capacity building and professional development
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the General Manager and Board
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and conservation partners
  • Maintain strong relationships with local communities and support viable community projects
  • Develop conservation awareness and educational materials
  • Coordinate habitat restoration activities, including tree planting and invasive species control
  • Manage staff for optimal productivity and motivation
  • Assist in project proposal development, funding, implementation, and evaluation
  • Undertake additional assignments as directed by senior management

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in conservation, natural resource management, rangeland management, or environmental science
  • Minimum three years' experience in a supervisory role within a sanctuary, conservancy, national park, or wildlife-based tourism facility
  • Experience in designing and managing conservation-based projects
  • Demonstrated commitment and track record in natural resource management and wildlife conservation
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking skills
  • Business management capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively in remote areas and multicultural environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Paramilitary training with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)
